Brow Aftercare

Your 7-day healing guide

The first week is especially important. Follow your personalised aftercare advice to support comfortable healing and colour retention.

What to expect

Initial surface healing often takes around 7–10 days. Brows may look darker at first, then lighter or patchy while healing. Allow approximately 4–6 weeks for the colour to settle. A follow-up may be recommended around 6–8 weeks after treatment.

General care during healing

  • Keep the area clean; wash your hands before any aftercare. Avoid rubbing, scratching or picking.
  • Avoid swimming, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, excessive sweating and direct sun exposure.
  • Wash the rest of your face gently, keeping cleanser, makeup, makeup remover and active skincare away from the brows until healed.
  • Do not soak the brows or allow shower water to spray directly onto them.

Day 1 | Leave your brows to settle

Your brows have been cleaned and treated in the studio. Leave them undisturbed today unless your practitioner has given different instructions. Avoid touching and direct sun exposure. Mild redness or tenderness can occur and should gradually improve.

Day 2 | Gentle cleansing

Use sterile saline or freshly boiled, cooled water on a clean cotton pad. Squeeze out excess liquid so the pad is damp, not dripping. Gently clean away surface residue without rubbing; a little excess pigment on the pad can be normal. If specifically instructed for your treatment, hold the damp pad against the brows for 8–10 minutes. Apply a very thin layer of the recommended balm with a clean cotton bud. If your practitioner has instructed you to remove excess balm after 20 minutes, dab gently with a clean, slightly damp pad.

Day 3 | Itching may begin

Mild itching is common. Continue the cleansing and balm routine provided for your particular treatment. Never scratch or pick; gently press the surrounding skin with clean hands or a clean pad if needed.

Day 4 | Fine flakes may appear

Small, thin flakes can develop. Continue only the cleansing routine advised by your practitioner. Do not peel flakes or force off scabs. Balm may no longer be needed after the first three days unless you have been advised otherwise.

Day 5 | Let flakes fall naturally

Your brows may look uneven as flakes loosen. Keep them clean and follow your personalised care routine. Do not scratch, pick or pull away loose skin.

Day 6 | Healing continues

Flaking may continue and colour can look patchy. Avoid friction and leave the area alone. Do not continue prolonged damp compresses unless specifically instructed.

Day 7 | Allow the colour to settle

Most early flaking may have finished, but some people take longer. Stop any scheduled damp-compress routine unless advised otherwise. Colour may appear lighter or uneven; allow 4–6 weeks for the healed result to become clearer.

Your results & touch-up

A refinement appointment may be recommended 6–8 weeks after the initial treatment. Complimentary touch-ups apply to selected packages only; please check your booking details for what is included.

When to seek advice

If redness spreads, swelling or pain worsens, the skin feels increasingly hot, pus appears or you develop a fever, seek prompt advice from your GP or NHS 111. Contact the studio for non-urgent questions about your aftercare.

Eyeliner Aftercare

Your guide to beautifully healed eyeliner

The first 7 days after your treatment are particularly important. Keep the area clean, avoid unnecessary touching and allow your skin to heal naturally. No aftercare cream or eye ointment is routinely required.

Immediately after treatment | First 24 hours

Mild swelling, redness, watering or tenderness can occur. If your eyelids feel swollen, you may use a cool compress:

  • Wrap a cool pack in a clean, soft cloth and rest it gently over closed eyelids for 10–15 minutes at a time.
  • Never apply ice directly to the skin or press on the eyeball.
  • Avoid rubbing or touching the treated area.

Days 1–3 | Gentle cleansing

  • Wash your hands before touching the area.
  • If there is discharge or residue, dampen sterile gauze or a clean lint-free pad with sterile saline and gently clean the closed eyelid. Use a fresh pad for each eye.
  • A brief, gentle moist compress may help loosen surface residue. Do not soak the eyeliner, rub it or attempt to remove scabs.
  • Pat dry gently. Keep the area dry between cleansing.
  • Avoid eye makeup, false lashes and ordinary skincare products on the treated area.
  • Do not wear contact lenses during initial healing; resume when comfortable and healed, or ask your optician if unsure.

Days 4–7 | Natural flaking

  • Tiny flakes or scabs may develop. Allow them to fall away naturally.
  • Do not pick, peel, scratch or repeatedly wet the area to force scabs off.
  • Clean gently only as needed. No aftercare cream or ointment is routinely required.
  • Avoid swimming, saunas, steam rooms, lash treatments and eye makeup until healed.

After initial healing | Colour development

Surface healing often takes around 7–10 days, but varies. Your eyeliner may look lighter or slightly uneven while healing. Allow approximately 4–6 weeks for colour to settle. A touch-up can be assessed once healing is complete.

When to seek medical help

Seek urgent medical assessment for significant eye pain, worsening swelling, pus, marked redness, light sensitivity or any change in vision. Contact an urgent optician, GP or NHS 111; sudden loss of vision or severe symptoms require emergency care.

Lip Aftercare

Your guide to beautifully healed lips

The first 7 days are important for healing and colour retention. Follow these instructions and any individual advice provided at your appointment. Your lips may initially look brighter and feel swollen or tender; colour usually settles over approximately 4–6 weeks.

First 24 hours

  • Avoid touching, rubbing or stretching the lips unnecessarily. Drink water regularly; use a straw if comfortable, without rubbing the lips.
  • Avoid very hot, spicy or acidic foods and drinks if they cause discomfort.
  • If fluid appears, gently blot with clean sterile gauze; do not rub or repeatedly press.
  • Apply a very thin layer of the recommended aftercare balm with clean hands or a disposable cotton bud, as instructed.
  • Before bed, gently clean only if needed, pat dry and apply a thin layer of balm.

Days 2–3 | Cleanse & moisturise

  1. Wash hands. Dampen a clean cotton pad with sterile saline or cooled boiled water.
  2. Gently cleanse without rubbing or soaking. Pat dry with clean gauze.
  3. Apply a thin layer of the recommended aftercare balm; reapply when lips feel dry, avoiding heavy layers.
  4. After meals, gently remove food residue, pat dry and reapply balm if needed.

Days 3–5 | Flaking

Dryness, flaking and temporary patchiness are common. Do not pick, peel or scrub the lips. Continue gentle cleansing as needed and use the recommended balm. Avoid lipstick, gloss and lip scrubs until the surface is healed.

Days 5–7 | Initial healing

Most initial flaking gradually settles, although healing varies. Your colour may look much lighter or uneven. Allow loose skin to come away naturally and continue gentle moisturising.

After day 7 | Colour development

Once the surface is fully healed, continue moisturising and protect lips from the sun with an appropriate SPF lip balm. Colour can continue to settle for 4–6 weeks. A touch-up may be recommended depending on the healed result and your treatment package.

Important precautions

  • Until healed, avoid swimming, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs and activities causing heavy sweating.
  • Avoid kissing or other friction against the lips during initial healing.
  • Do not apply lipstick, lip gloss, exfoliants or active skincare products to healing lips.
  • Keep anything touching your lips clean; if wearing a face mask, minimise friction.

Cold sores | Please read

Lip permanent makeup can trigger cold sores in susceptible people. If you have ever had a cold sore, tell us before your appointment and contact your GP or a UK online prescribing service in advance to discuss whether preventative antiviral medication is appropriate. Oral aciclovir is prescription-only in the UK. Your prescriber must decide whether you need it and exactly when to start and stop; do not self-start a fixed course. If you have tingling, blisters or an active cold sore near your appointment, contact us to rearrange until fully healed.

When to seek medical help

Seek medical advice for worsening pain or swelling, spreading redness, pus, fever or painful blisters. Contact NHS 111 for urgent advice; call 999 for severe allergic symptoms or breathing difficulty.
